Artefact in ProRes video
Artefact in ProRes video
Strange artefact in my export from TVP 11.7: this black rectangle appears in every attempt to render this scene in ProRes (for the duration of scene). No other file shows this, and the same project renders to PNG codec just fine.

Re: Artefact in ProRes video
Hi slowtiger,
I was in contact with someone a few months ago that had the same issue but I was never able to reproduce it.
Can you send me your project and the export parameters you are using so I can try it ?

Re: Artefact in ProRes video
Okay so, after doing several exports in RGB, RGBA, with FFMpeg ProRes on both Windows and macOS, we can't reproduce this.
Soo... I don't know what I can do to help you here :/
My only theory is that FFMpeg-ProRes messes up something but not everytime.
In v12.1 we'll be adding official Apple ProRes export to replace FFMpeg-ProRes so maybe this won't happen anymore.

Re: Artefact in ProRes video
Since it happend with only that one file and only in ProRes, not in PNG, I can live with that (as long as PNG codec QT movs are still imported in other programs).

Re: Artefact in ProRes video
As a possible alternative, if you want a ProRes video file, you can export an image sequence from TVPaint and then transform those image files as one ProRes video file using the free software Shutter Encoder (https://www.shutterencoder.com/).
Shutter Encoder uses ffmpeg for its ProRes encoding. Other formats are available.
*TVPaint 11 uses the 'ProRes 4444' codec. This is useful if you have an alpha/transparency channel in your sequence. The 422 codec doesn't do transparency (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102207).
- You import the files
- Under the 'Choose function' section select 'Apple ProRes' and '422 HQ' or '422' (or whatever codec is best suited*)
- Then on the right, under 'Image sequence' tick 'Activate the image sequence to' with the fps value wanted (you can input a value manually)
- And to generate the video, hit the 'Start function' button (under the 'Choose function' section)

Re: Artefact in ProRes video
As I have mentioned elsewhere, I use ProRes only for scenes without alpha, because Apple's own Final Cut software can't read the alpha channel from that Apple ProRes codec. (But they gifted some stupid golden thing to Trump.)
