Timeline image selection behaviour

Hi all, I am finding that the way TVPaint handles things when you select a range of images in a layer in the timeline is a bit frustrating and counter-intuitive. I think it boils down to the fact that moving the timeline cursor (changing current frame) causes any existing selection to be cancelled. ...

Re: Clip Structure naming patterns request

Thanks for the extra info and the tip.
I tried your suggestion of using the clip name in variable with the "patternFolder" parameter of the tv_clipSaveStructure command it it works nicely :)

Clip Structure naming patterns request

Hi All, It would be great to be able to reference the clip name and even the project name defining the folder and file name patterns under Export > Clip Structure. Is this currently possible - to enter a pattern to insert the clip name? (I've tried "%cn" and it doesn't work...)? If not, may I gently...

Re: Long save times and often can't save at all

You only get useful results while testing if you really shut down everything else! No AfterFX, no web browser, no iTunes. 10 yrs ago I had a 11 GB TVP file on a PowerMac with only 8 GB RAM. It worked, it took 10 minutes to open or save, but TVP never lost anything. Wow! I would lose my mind. How of...

Re: Long save times and often can't save at all

30 sec is not that long ... but on a SSD? I'd say run some system diagnostics on your drive. Thanks. I will dive into that, ironically, when I have some more time ;) The save time went down to about 7 seconds for a time... There are many variables I could test, such as After Effects running at the ...

Long save times and often can't save at all

Hi all, I'm working on a project that is about 600 MB in size. It is not very long but the resolution is 4800x2700 (big, I know.). Just one clip, no heavy imported material. It takes about 30 seconds to save the project. I have 16 GB RAM and a very fast 1TB SSD so this seems slow to me. To make matt...

Re: Flip is slow copared to scrubbing

That's not it :( After some playing around I think it might simply be because when you scrub in the timeline, TVPaint is allowed to skip frames in order to keep up. Flip is oriented more for really looking at your animation so it seems that it does not skip frames. I may have jumped the gun in calli...

Flip is slow copared to scrubbing

I am noticing that using manual "flip" tends to lag a lot more than just scrubbing the cursor in the timeline. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that Flip uses the hover tracking of the cursor while scrubbing, obviously, you click down and drag the timeline indicator cursor (pen ...

Select images while layer is collapsed (not hidden)

Would anybody know of a way to select a range of images in a layer while the layer is in the collapsed state (i.e thinner, no thumbnail) in the timeline? When the layer is expanded you click and drag just below the images you want to select. However when you collapse the layer (to save space and gai...

I think you can also "int" the images of the lightable to resolve your problems
Did you mean "Tint" or is this a feature I don't know about.
Another little hack is to use "Image Color" and then set the background to the color you don't want to see (in my case, full Red).

Re: RGB filters for light table

What you can do in the meantime is set your lightbox from "color" to "image color" mode - at least you'll be able to distinct the blue from the red lines, in case you don't know that already. Thank you. Yes I was aware of the feature - you could also try to use "Tint" mode with strategically chosen...

RGB filters for light table

It goes without saying that the way the bundled "Sketch Panel" tools work is brilliant. Wouldn't it be great if the Light Table could be clever about colors in a similar way? For example, if I'm using the Red pen to do very rough and messy under-drawing, then the Blue pen to highlight the structure ...

Navigator playback options?

I really love the Little navigator panel playback function to have a tiny lightweight and realtime preview of the animation looping all the time in the corner so you can keep the overall sequence in mind as you go into detail. Is there some way to set some limits on the playback range though? On a l...
