Re: unwanted horizontal lines..

This looks like a compression artifact. Wich image format and wich codec did you use?

Re: switch off part of a layer.

The red line you used makes me think. In video editors and music sequencers a diagonal line like this indicates a fade. What about making this a real feature: have a line over the thumbnails in the timeline which indicates opacity? This way we could have 1. switch off parts of the layer completely 2...

Re: Pivot Change

None I'm aware of. Of course if you type in value N in one pivot dimension typing in value -N in the position dimension would help. I just duplicate the layer so I have a visual cue.

Software prices are quite different between US and Europe. (600.- € includes 19% VAT tax.)

Same problem with any orientation of custom brushes: in rotated or mirrored view they're not usable.

Doesn't convince me. OK; I'm not their target customer.

Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool

The examples use a complete image as source, I think it will work much better once you can separate background from characters.

Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool

This exists for some time already, right? I remember the examples in the video, have seen some years ago. Hm. To me it looks more like domesticated video compression artefacts, but maybe someone can utilize this style.

Just did a test with the old wrapping grid:

It's possible, but a PITA. And you can't reuse it other than in the exact same spot since you can't scale it.

Re: Freelancing Question

Depends on the job. Quite often the work they outsource is part of a bigger production, you get prepared files, and/or you have to deliver files in a specific format so that others can work with it. In this case they dictate the software. But if your contract states that you deliver video files only...

Re: Imported PNG sequence from AE loses color

This was so much fun. When I finally came to testing your image file, I knew it had to be on the TVP side because everything else was eliminated already. It just took a conscious look at the import panel - something I hadn't done for years! And then I danced around a bit ...

OK, you owe me an iced coffee.

Check your import settings in TVP. They're set to "alpha only", I bet.

Re: Recommended Video Editing Software

It all depends on what you need. If you animate just for fun, iMovie is good enough. If you animate for money, you'll need something more professional with more options (different formats, codes, etc). The high end would be Final Cut, which is about 600.- € here. In between there are several solutio...

Re: TVPaint for the Disney feel?

There's one user, sang820, in the Moho forum, who is one of the very few animators I know able to do fluent character animation in a vector/puppet program nearly on par with "Disney". Here's some of his stuff: https://www.facebook.com/wodeMoho/videos/620454098543086/ . There was another one some yea...
