Anyone know of a plugin (or simple procedure) which will convert each tone in a quantized (say a minimum of 12 steps) b&W image into a different user-defined colour? It's turning out to be less simple than I thought.
I'm way behind on product upgrades so all I've got is colour replacer (which I can't tune to only work with luminance) and colour factory which I'venever figured out and only seems to offer limited choice.
Luminance keying would work but I know there'll be a quicker and more versatile method somewhere.
thanks
David

Re: Greyscale to colour
Use the Stylise>Color Range SFX.
You can make a gradient with steps at the right places and get exactly what you want.

Re: Greyscale to colour
I did actually use posterize to quantize and some keyed out layers and then grandients, but I forgot about the steps. Thankyou - that would have been a much better way to go about it.
