Re: Various stuff made with TVPaint

Is it worth watching? I enjoyed the film much more than I expected : unique universe, nice story, stunning animation (2D and 3D are both excellent). I was afraid it would be quite childish and finally, I spent a really good time. I've even got it on DVD. Nice, I'll check it out sometime. I just wis...

My Little Pony The Movie trailer out now

As someone who has been anticipating this movie since it was first announced, I really like how this looks as a Toon Boom animation. Still, I can't imagine how potentially awesome it'd look if it was done in TVP.

Re: Klaus

I wouldn't mind Klaus being done with both TVPaint and Toon Boom, TVPaint for hand drawn animation and Toon Boom for ink and paint, among other different features. It would be like how The Princess and the Frog was made, being drawn with pencil then being imported to the Toon Boom system, but with d...

Traditional animation and 2d computer animation: Should there be a difference?

One can easily tell the difference between traditional animation and computer animation, the latter is done with pencil and paper and the latter is done with computers. However, there seems to be a misconception that computer animation is just 3d and that anything with a 2d look is traditional. I th...

Re: Cacani 2d software with automatic inbetweening done righ

I didn't know Cacani is able to do automatic inbetweens. All examples he showed looked pretty horrible, but I could imagine if you use it wisely it could be pretty pretty handy. Unfortunately such stuff only seems to work in vector graphics Perhaps there could be a different software or a TVP plugi...

Re: Automated inbetweening

I wish I could see what sykosan posted in this thread. I like the idea of a 2.5d look in TVPaint animations, even if it's done with third party software.

Re: I think there needs to be an American version of TVP

And why exactly would the Americans have these extra features and the rest of the world not...? You believe that we don't need or use those tools? The American version would still be available worldwide. And they could name it something new and really cool sounding , less French than "TVPaint" ... ...

I think there needs to be an American version of TVP

Last year, a version of Toonz was made by a Japanese developer, called Opentoonz, which is an open source version of Toonz which is made by an Italian developer. Point is, since the developer of TVP is French, is probably the reason why it isn't so popular in North America. However, programs like Fl...

Re: What would make the ultimate 2d animation software?

This is another in a long line of hypothetical questions with a much too broad scope recently, and sorry, but I'm fed up with it. There is no such thing as the one ideal software for everybody. Everyone has their own favorite way of doing things. IMO the best approach is to design a certain set of ...
