Re: Locking the timeline

Yeah, I think splitting the layers is the best workaround, but it's still a multistep thing, right? Like, I can't just put the cursor where I want to split and then just click on one thing? I believe I have to carefully select one section, then copy to layer above, then go back to the layer below an...

Locking the timeline

Is there a way to work on a section on the timeline without it moving the rest of the timeline after it? That is, if I want to fiddle with the timing on a few frames, but want the instances which follow to remain where they are. They only thing I can think of is to duplicate the layer and then delet...

THANK YOU!!!

Not really a technical support issue, but I have been here, in this forum so much, so I wanted to write here. My partner, Alison Snowden, and I have finally finished our short film, which we made with TVPaint. We loved using TVPaint, but I don't know what I would have done without this amazing forum...

Re: Export resolution issue

Oh wow, that's a great tip. The crop tool allows me to match the camera view. I can then crop the project, which makes a new, cropped version, and then output that project 1:1. Perfect! Thank you. So deceptively simple. Of course, as I said before, this only applies to held shots, not moves. For mov...

Re: Export resolution issue

Well, no, the output dimensions don't have to be the same for each scene. Maybe I want to import scenes to After Effects for further treatment, so I want to output at the best quality native resolution. That's the issue. My scenes are of varying resolution depending on the content. Thanks for the li...

Re: Export resolution issue

This is very helpful, thank you, but I think the math needs to be done a different way for how I am working. I do understand that in order to get native resolution, I should set the camera to the same size as the project, but that assumes the camera is exactly the full project field size. In this ca...

Re: Export resolution issue

Okay, this is now clearer. Thank you. The camera setting is entirely irrelevant IF I am exporting the project and choosing my export resolution at export. If I am telling export to use the camera, then it will export the camera resolution. Having said that, I can still export the camera view and tel...

Re: Export resolution issue

Thanks for the thorough info. I do understand the principal of resolution, but what I am not understanding is what the camera parameter settings have to do with the output because I set the output when I use the export feature. If the Camera is set at 1920 on a scene which is actually 3840 wide and ...

Re: Export resolution issue

I am coming to realize that I don't really understand this, but I better try because it could impact the quality of my output. There are some parameters which are unclear to me. Here is an example project: - Project resolution = 3840 x 2160. - Camera is set at full project size, so no cropping. Also...

Re: Export resolution issue

Actually, I do have another related question. If a scene is 3000 pixels wide and I have a static camera position which is slightly smaller, how can I output so that I get an output file which is the actual pixel resolution of the frame? That is, it might be about 2900 wide in that 3000 project, but ...

Re: Export resolution issue

I really was not looking to output multiple resolutions. As I said, it's clear how to do this with the way I want with a static scene, but for a camera move, there is no choice but to output at a fixed resolution which means the output is recalculating, but that's the way it is. It was confusing me ...

Re: Export resolution issue

No, not changing the resolution, just wanting to output at the highest resolution possible considering the project size. As I say, I think I realize that I just have to pick a resolution and let the output recalculate the image. When there is a camera move, it just has to do that, right?

Re: Export resolution issue

Let me put it another way. Here is the set up with the A and B camera move and the overall image size. So for maximum resolution, given the project size is 3000 x 2000, what should I set the output at?
