Re: Disney's Meander software

The stills look impressing, but in motion it looks kinda uncanny to me.

Re: time line improment

Oh that's useful, thank you. But it would be nice if there was some subtile difference between the empty frames and the filled one all the time I think

Re: time line improment

At the moment it looks like this

Re: Disney's Meander software

Moana was done using Meander? If I remember correctly they planned to use Meander on Moana, but then opt out, since the whole Meander workflow was in a too early stage to rely on. At least for a feature film.

Re: Disney's Meander software

I'm not really frightened by the aspect of getting replaced, I always welcome new technology, if it offers new possibilities to do stuff in a new way. And Meander has A LOT of possibilities to create something you've never seen before. But to me it seems like they only use it to do some lifeless 2D ...

Re: Disney's Meander software

I read a bit about meander for the theory part of my diploma thesis and I'm really not a big fan of it. I really like the idea of trying new ways to render CG animation and I really liked the look of Feast, but especially Paperman looked awful to me. At least for me hand drawn animation it's not abo...

A shame you have to pay at least $ 40 for a modibot in Germany, but the video is really fun to watch.

Re: How to do 2 D animation on top of 360 scene?

The scene is build in a 3D software and probably used as a flat background for the hand-drawn animation. You can also use a 360 grid similar to this

But I guess this subject is way to complex to explain it here completely.

Re: Best 2-in-1 laptop recommendation

Honestly, I would go with a Mobilestudio 16, stand and bluetooth keyboard. You won't look at 2 in 1's again. I second that! I'm using a Cintiq Companion 2, which is already quite nice, but I've tried the Mobilestudio in Annecy and I was pretty impressed by the non-exisiting parallax and the smooth ...

Btw, normal mapping is used in cgi for fake lighting bumps and stuff that aren't in the poly model.
Usually it's used for that, but you can also use some "fake-normal-maps" generated from a 2D image, to create some kind of lighting effect.

Re: Have any of you ever heard of/worked with LUMO?

There was some excellent (and free) plugin from Stefan Minning for After Effects, but I can't remember the name anymore. 58671409 However, even if this isn't the most beautiful example, it shows you can get a pretty similar effect using his (also free) plugins Generator and Normality to achieve the ...

Have you tried to export it as PNG? (Honestly I don't know if this could help, but usually I never had such problems with PNGs)

As far as I know you should be able to cancel the export pressing ESC. Except of that I completely supporting your requests.
