Re: Lock Layer to Camera?

You don't even have to render the multiplane setup. FX always uses projects as source in their actual state of visible/invisible layers. Try this: - have animated walk in place in one project, and animated multiplane setup in second project - in first project, open FX > Keyframer and choose second p...

Re: Import Sound while importing video

As a workaround you should be able to export audio only from vegas, and import this to the clip in TVP.

Re: The Big Bad Fox

No info about that in any article I found. It's possible they did it in Flash like they did in Ernest & Celestine before.

Re: RAM usage while exporting

That should definitely be a factor. From hard-earned experience I always export to a local drive, then transfer files to a server.

I haven't used my new machine seriously yet, it has a SSD and I wonder how fast this will make TVP during export.

Re: Why is TVP changing the resolution of my PSDs?

The culprit is clearly your catalogue program. In a time where images come from all possible sources and will end in all possible places, it's stupid to ask for anything else than the pixel dimensions.

Re: Video nested in a perspective monitor at a street scene

For a static video: 1. Create project, create a perspective rectangle as a reference 2. Import video, go to frame 1 of it 3. Select Warp tool in the Main Panel, distort video to your liking, hit Enter 4. Undo, select all frames of video, hit enter twice. Or: 1. Create project, create a perspective r...

I wonder if something could be done with the help of the grid. Import image, adjust grid so it separates all items, then cut along grid lines?

Re: Importing a colour PNG with a transparent background

You can import a PSD file with all layers intact.
To import a PNG with alpha, please refer to the PS manual about saving images with transparency.

Re: Interface like Pitch Docter-2 from PIXAR?

Ideally the arrangement of panels should be just a matter of personal preference, so people coming from different backgrounds feel at home immediately.

Re: auto paint

it always spills over others area Without seeing an example of your line work, this is really a broad claim. Area detection can only be that good on non-closed areas. Closed areas will get recognised without fail. But to expect an algorithm to work flawlessly in any situation of broken lines is a b...

Re: Instance and Keyframer questions

Well, in that case you need to animate that character's transition from walk to stop (and more action) and then to walk again anyway. And it's totally possible to use the Keyframer for only a range of frames, and for its source to start from a certain frame ( offset ), so if you really need this you...

Re: auto paint

Wouldn't agree to that. From my experience with colouring in Animo and Toonz I'd say a randomly coloured frame doesn't have any advantage. In that classic workflow, one would check for this after colouoring the scene: 1. Is every area filled? (There was a silhouette mode for this.) 2. Does every are...

Re: Custom brush info needed

litho.tvpx Have a look at this one. I created it to mimick lithographic shadings from around 1900. It's very light, and gives a satisfying organic look when applied at the same place with more and more pressure, creating very nuanced shading. Here's the TVP file with all the bitmaps I used. You can...

Re: Disney's Meander software

It's not so much about trade secrets (after all, there are not so many in this field), it's about Disney's marketing strategy. Talking about a certain production technique was always part of their marketing, that's why you'll find nicely illustrated articles about the multiplane camera in old issues...

Re: time line improment

I just have an empty keyframe there, stretched as long as I need it.

(But it would be nice if TVP could detect a completely empty frame and colour-code it ...)
