Re: Dissolving between instances

In your case you first need to isolate the 2 frames you want to dissolve from the 99 exposures. Just copy them into a new layer, which now should consist of only 2 frames, and proceed as I wrote to stretch this to the desired length of dissolve. (I don't know your workflow habits, but I permanently ...

Re: Dissolving between instances

There are several ways to do this, I use this: - have a layer of several frames - grab handle at the right and pull until it's a multiple of the original frame count - in the dialogue, I check interpolate and click stretch. To be sure to have the original frames untouched somewhere, I extend their e...

Re: MOTION KEYFRAMER DESIGN MENY

No, you're not alone, the Keyframer is a pretty complex thing, although its basics are explained in the manual. I agree that the rotation axis names (XYZ) should be used instead of (or additionlly to) bank, head, and pitch , as these names are totally unknown to non-native speakers of english (or pi...

Re: Particle Tutorials

That effect is so short, I wouldn't even open the FX panel for it but animate it by hand.

There is a bunch of particle FX in the bin for this FX, have you seen them? Usually I load one of them as a starting point and tweak it to my needs.

Re: $230 To turn my 7 page colored original comic book into a 1 minute action anime

Obviously you have no idea of how much work animation actually is, and how much money the time of an artist is worth. I'd say 2.500 $ is the smallest amount any serious animator would call for this job.

Re: Scaling drawings unproportionally?

So what? I still remember my FreeHand shortcuts from 1994, and how to load a 35 mm camera!

All those fancy new names for tools instead of the olden proven ones! *shakes walking stick*

Re: Scaling drawings unproportionally?

Try using the Warp tool instead, grab the handle in the middle of a side.

Re: Opentoonz seems to be cleaning itself up.

I really don't believe it's just this pencil (and the Palomino is just a reissue of the original Blackwing Warrior, which I know and still have a package of), other pencils are good enough as well for the job, it just takes the insight to evaluate one's tools and maybe research for alternatives.

Re: Opentoonz seems to be cleaning itself up.

Exactly my thoughts when that whole thing started: it was a scan software, not a drawing software. What did those people expect? OTOH I was asked how much money one has to spend for hard- and software to be able to produce animation independently. This was a much more legitimate request, and I did m...

Re: Layer plane tests

I realised there is an old trick to this: moving clouds and plane horizontal only, but give the plane a very small repetitive vertical movement (up down up down). I just remembered old Hannah-Barbera procuctions where they did this all the time (like Jetsons).

Re: 3d in Tvpaint?

Please don't. There's a plethora of 3D software out there, even for free. I don't want a perfectly functional 2D software get ruined by trying to cram 3D into it. If you need 3D, get 3D. No need to put it elsewhere.

Re: Clean-up

I'm pretty fast with cleanup and inbetweens, it's just a matter of training, I think. I rotate the drawings often or flip the view, if you put this on a keystroke, you're much faster in TVP than switching to other progams. Vector programs have it easier since you can define an overall value for tamp...

Re: Clean-up

IMHO this is just normal behaviour of all brushes I use, be it digital or on paper. If I need 2 tapered ends, I do 2 strokes, like I did all my life.

Re: Layer plane tests

Have you tried following that plane with the camera a bit more? Second shot looks nice, but a bit undecisive. Make the plane slower, but all clouds (including the farthest) faster, while keeping their relative speeds. I've noticed that I tend to overthink this stuff: each time I try to incorporate m...
